Good morning guys!! Shogun returned this morning from a 1.5 day with near limits of BFT. They head back out today on a 3 day trip.
. . . I know you all are wondering about the recent incident on the Shogun and we can’t say much at this time since it’s an ongoing investigation. But what we can tell you is that all crew members are alive and well and we will continue to run trips as scheduled. It was an unfortunate incident and those crew members are no longer a part of Shogun Sportfishing. The captains on upcoming trips will be Rene Monteagudo and his relief will be Jeff Debuys. Thank you all for your support. -Shogun Crew Shogun 3-day update: day 1: 9 bft and some yellowtail. Day 2: 52 bft, most were 25-35#, 10 were 60-80# and 3 were 100-180#. They also had some yellowtail yesterday as well. Today they have 28 bft on board with a few going. They return to dock tomorrow morning and then head out on Island Fishing Tackle sponsored 6-day!! -Shogun crew
We are getting a lot of calls, emails and inquiries regarding upcoming trips and if they are affected by the closures set forth by Newsom on July 13th. WE ARE NOT AFFECTED at this time. So all trips will proceed as scheduled.
Thanks -Shogun Crew Hello Anglers!!!
Our first 1.5 day of the Season was GREAT. We had limits of BFT, with 10 over 100#. Suggested tackle for the 1.5 and 3 day trips are 40#, 50# Fly line and 80-100# flat-fall. We just want to thank all our friends and passengers for your patience and understanding through all this. -Shogun Crew Message from Frank Lo Preste re: new policies & procedures
Re-Opening Plan re: Covid-19
To our valued customers, Captains Paul and Rene, along with their crew and some outside contractors, have the Shogun in beautiful condition. During boat work, two of our fish holds were completely gutted, re-foamed and re-glassed. This was a major undertaking and insures your fish will be in excellent condition when you return from your trip. The running gear, props and shafts were removed, fined tuned and replaced. All stateroom flooring and wall coverings were replaced. The Engine room is in top shape and many other projects completed. Depending on Covid-19 restrictions, we hope to begin running trips by May 15th, or soon thereafter. Covid-19 continues to be a concern to all of us. We will be working with the health department and following their guidelines. Our Crew will be sanitizing the boat to the best of their ability and following CDC guidelines before each trip. Air conditioner filters will be changed before all three day trips or longer, along with changing the comforters. Regular linens will be changed after every trip. Lysol wipes will be available throughout each trip for passenger use. Along with this, the crew will be going through the boat during each day wiping common area surfaces. The office is now open from 8:30 to 4:30 Monday through Saturday. Monica or Jen will be looking forward to hearing from you. Sincerely, Frank Lo Preste Dear Friends and Fellow Anglers,
Obviously there is great concern amongst our passengers, regarding Covid-19 and how it will affect our future trips. We want to address and help alleviate your concerns as we navigate the continuing changes on what needs to be done to best control and stem the spread of the virus as it pertains to our operation. On March 17th the U.S. Coast Guard met with our fleet and stated they are putting no restrictions on fishing trips at this time. Rest assured that the crew of the Royal Polaris and Shogun will be taking all steps necessary to maintain a safe environment aboard our vessels. Prior to boarding, both the RP and Shogun will be taking all precautions and measures possible to clean and disinfect all surfaces of the boat according to the most up to date CDC recommendations. During each trip the crew will continue to disinfect all countertops, handrails, door knobs, sinks, bathrooms and community areas multiple times each day. Clorox wipes or similar product will be available in the galley at all times. Prior to boarding our vessels, all passengers will be given a questionnaire to complete that includes questions related to recent travel specifically in Covid-19 Hot Spots, Covid-19 health related questions, recent travel on specific cruise ships, etc., that we will be asking everyone to sign prior to boarding. As always we are recommending that all anglers purchase trip insurance. If you need assistance with trip insurance there is a link on our websites that can provide you with more information. We will be posting further updates in the near future. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us in the office at 619-226-8030. Shogun ran their first ever surf/fish trip last week in Baja. Here are a couple photos from that trip. We will have this trip on the schedule in 2021, but still looking at dates. If you’re interested give the office a call, ask for Jen and we can add you to the list and let you know when we have the dates!! #shogunsportfishing #surf #fish #sevensisters
